Amy Burt

Since graduating from the Future Tutors programme in July 2017 Amy is now a full-time embroiderer. Amy teaches regularly on the RSN Day Classes, RSN BA (Hons) Degree  as well as teaching on the Certificate & Diploma in Technical Hand Embroidery Summer Intensive programme at Hampton Court Palace.

During her Future Tutors studies at the RSN, Amy worked on ‘Magna Carta (An Embroidery)’, designed by Cornelia Parker, the Nicholas Oakwell Couture ostrich feathered gown for the GREAT Britain Campaign, the ‘Nude Series’ for NEO Pop Artist Philip Colbert and the ‘Whitewalker’ from HBO’s Game of Thrones.

In 2018, Amy’s Tapestry Shading embroidery of ‘The Young Stevie Nicks’, worked as part of her training at the RSN, was chosen from over 20,000 entries to be displayed in London during the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts 250th Summer Exhibition curated by Grayson Perry RA. Amy’s work was displayed with 1,350 works of art including pieces by Banksy, Tracy Emin and David Hockney. Her work was hung in the main ‘yellow’ gallery  personally selected by Grayson Perry.

Amy also works as a freelance embroiderer in the fashion industry. She is a Senior Embroiderer at the British Haute Couture fashion house Ralph & Russo.

Amy is the RSN Tutor for the successful RSN Online Course to Canvaswork which launched in December 2018.

In 2023, Amy was honoured to be part of the Embroidery Studio team at the Royal School of Needlework who worked on a number of items for the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla, including The Queen’s Robe of Estate and the Anointing Screen
