Royal School of Needlework

Welcome to the Royal School of Needlework The International Centre
of Excellence for the
Art of Hand Embroidery

Tutors: Liz Tapper

Following an early interest in hand embroidery, Liz Tapper went on to study on the RSN Apprenticeship, graduating with a First Class qualification in 1998.

Since graduating, Liz has undertaken commissions from Harrods, Lulu Guinness, Monsoon, the Brompton Oratory in Kensington and for London Fashion Week, as well as setting up exhibitions for the Embroiderers’ Guild.  She has also conserved and restored a variety of embroidered textiles, including a set of 17th Century church vestments, a 200 year old metalwork cushion and a 500 year old set of tapestry hangings.

Liz teaches at venues around the country, both for the RSN and privately through her own company ‘The Art of the Needle’.  She also designs and sells embroidery kits and embroidered art in a range of techniques.

Liz has a love of antique textiles, whitework in particular and has a small but growing collection of christening gowns, as well as several other heirloom items.

She is an exhibiting Member of Somerset Art Works and a Full Member of the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen.
