Tutors: Dr Clare Rose

Clare Rose has taught History of Art and Design to BA and MA textiles students for 15 years, in London and elsewhere. She teaches object-based and visual methodologies through archive visits, object studies, oral presentations and written exercises. Her teaching addresses themes such as the meanings of contemporary craft, the history of luxury textiles and brands, and the cultural meanings of dress.

Trained as a museum curator, she has researched and curated major textile collections in Britain and Europe, and lectures frequently at the V&A Museum. Her most recent publication is ‘Art Nouveau Fashion 1890-1914’ (V&A Publishing, 2014) and she has made many media appearances including Great British Sewing Bee Series One and Two.

Dr Clare Rose is a Senior Lecturer in Contextual Studies on the RSN Degree course.
