Tutors: Amanda Ewing

Amanda Ewing completed the RSN Apprenticeship and since then has worked in the RSN Studio where she was Studio Manager, and now works as a Studio Embroiderer, overseeing a wide variety of commissions. Her teaching experience includes RSN Day Classes, Certificate & Diploma and Bespoke Classes both in the UK and the United States, as well as having taught on the Degree programme. 


In 2011, Amanda oversaw the RSN's work on The Duchess of Cambridge's wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton OBE. She worked as part of the Studio team on the 12th century embroidered hangings for English Heritage's Dover Castle with her work involving anything from delicate embroidery on christening robes, to repairing or creating altar frontals for the nation’s cathedrals and churches.  She is renowned for her technical skill including underside couching, a medieval Goldwork technique.
