This course has already taken place.

Class Dates: Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 June 2018

This Blackwork is inspired by the Arts and Craft tiles of William de Morgan (hence Morgan the tortoise!). You will learn 5/6 blackwork stitches as well as introducing shading techniques.

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.

This class will run from 10am-4pm at Grand Central Hotel , 99 Gordon Street, Glasgow G1 3SF

Blackwork is a historical technique that has been developed by the RSN to become a form of tonal stitching. The technique uses a variety of geometric stitches in one colour which enables dramatic effects to be created. It is particularly effective with portraits and architectural themes.
