This course has already taken place.

Inspired by the Book of Kells and Kelley's larger design for an illuminated alphabet, this design includes a beautifully shaded mediaeval Hare surrounded by gold flourishes.

This cheeky Hare is worked entirely in shaded stem stitch and, rather than being chased by the ever-hungry Hound, he is surrounded by golden flourishes of couched Pearl Purl, twisted ropes of Smooth Purl and sparkling spangles.

Students will learn shading with stem stitch, Or Nue (Shaded Gold), S'ing (a form of stem stitch worked in gold) chipping, seeding, and working with spangles and over-stretched Pearl Purl.

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.

This class will run will run from 10am-4pm on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 July 2017 at the Irish Countrywomen's Association (ICA) 58 Merrion Road, Dublin 4SS

There is no wheelchair access available.
