This course has already taken place.

RSN Tutor, Deborah Wilding will be teaching a bespoke embroidery class at Fashion Museum Bath on Saturday 19 August, 2017.The class is suitable for all levels and is based on a man’s embroidered coat from the 1770s, which is on display at the Museum.

In the class you will recreate the embroidery decoration which covers the front of this beautiful jacket. The areas you will concentrate on will be the buttons and pocket flaps. You will be using a variety of embroidery stitches including Satin Stitch and will also be making a fabric covered button. You will also have an opportunity to view the coat at the Museum as part of the exhibition ‘A History of Fashion in 100 Objects’.

The class kit, available to buy on the day for £30 (cash only) will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.

The workshop runs from 10.00am to 4.00pm at Fashion Museum, Assembly Rooms, Bennett Street, Bath BA1 2QH. All attendees must be comfortable climbing stairs. The class takes place in the Fashion Museum Study Facilities, which is on the first floor of the Assembly Rooms. The class includes a ticket to the Museum, valid for a month from the date of the class.
