This course has already taken place.

Dates: Saturday 2 & Sunday 3 December 2017.

A beautiful design inspired by both Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts traditions, incorporating real lustrous silk threads set against shimmering gold and copper British metal threads in a scrolling stem with flowering rose bud encased by stylised foliage. This class is suitable for any level of embroiderer.

Whilst embroidering this lovely floral sprig you will learn satin stitch, French knots, couching, cutwork, overstretched Pearl purl with coloured core, chips, raised fishbone and fly stitch.

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.

This class will run from 10am-4pm at Hampton Court Palace, East Molesey, Surrey KT8 9AU

This technique has its history in military, ecclesiastical and royal regalia, but it also creates the most beautiful and dramatic embroideries. Using a wide variety of metal threads, it can be combined with other techniques to produce luxurious effects.
