On this one day course you will be introduced to a selection of Ribbonwork and Stumpwork techniques along with both Raised Embroidery stitches and decorative Surface Stitches. You will use these skills to create a secret garden design (in a choice of colours) which combines delicate Ribbonwork embroidered flowers with 3D wired shapes which bloom around a tiny metal key and padlock.

The techniques taught in the class will include: creating 3D wired shapes with buttonhole edges, 3D Silk Shaded petals, thread wrapped wire, embroidered padded slips, various Ribbonwork stitches, Fly Stitch, French Knots, Stem Stitch and more.

This class is suitable for both beginners or for those who want to practice and improve their embroidery skills.

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.

This class will run at 38 Old School House, Kingswood Estate, Britannia Road, Kingswood, Bristol. BS15 8DB

Stumpwork (Raised Embroidery)
Stumpwork uses an array of different materials and techniques to create raised and three dimensional elements. Designs can be varied and imaginative, offering scope for a high degree of creativity.
