Date Days Price Tutor Places left
22/10/2017 1 £103.50 Helen Jones sold out
[Course cost: £78.00 - Required kit cost: £25.50 ]

This course has already taken place.

This taster day demonstrates three of the basic gold work techniques.  After learning how to apply craft felt to create raised areas we will couch Japanese thread, apply Pearl Purl and cut Bright Check Purl into beads  and apply.   Students will also learn how to plunge and tie back threads which are couched on the surface.  No previous experience is necessary.

By the end of the day students will be able to apply padding to create depth to a goldwork design, know how to apply and finish off three different materials and will have gained sufficient skills to finish their work at home.

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.

This class runs from 10am-4pm at Grand Central Hotel, 99 Gordon Street, Glasgow G1 3SF

Goldwork
This technique has its history in military, ecclesiastical and royal regalia, but it also creates the most beautiful and dramatic embroideries. Using a wide variety of metal threads, it can be combined with other techniques to produce luxurious effects.
