White on White - Creating Texture - Hampton Court (Code 3116)

Date Days Price Tutor Places left
29/07/2017 1 £100.50 Helen Jones sold out
[Course cost: £78.00 - Required kit cost: £22.50 ]

This course has already taken place.

The aim of this day is to consider different ways in which texture can be created in a piece of work.  We will look at stitches which are textured in themselves, use of various forms of padding, textured threads, use of wire for shaping etc. We will then apply these techniques to a simple design. Students will have some experience of stitching.

By the end of the day students will have practised a variety of techniques, stitched a small design incorporating some of these techniques and have a sampler for future reference.

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.

This class runs from 10am-4pm at 38 Old School House, Kingswood Estate, Britannia Road, Kingswood, Bristol. BS15 8DB

Whitework

The term applies to a variety of techniques, ranging from the bold stitches to more delicate work. Whitework traditionally uses white thread on white fabric in bridal and christening wear and ecclesiastical pieces. It also adapts well to contemporary designs.
