Our signature course, the RSN Certificate in Technical Hand Embroidery, is taught by RSN Tutors at the Williamsburg School of Needlework every Spring and Autumn.

There will be a mix of new students starting the Jacobean Crewelwork module and returning students who will be learning a mix of other techniques.

The RSN teaches English embroidery and offers students an opportunity to develop technical skills and master a range of stitches in each of our core techniques. We aim to make the classes in Williamsburg as near as possible to the classes that are run at Hampton Court and our other UK venues. The emphasis is on personal development and raising your own individual level of skill in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Assessment Process

Our assessment process is carried out on finalisation of each of your embroidery techniques. Completed pieces of work must be submitted with all associated paperwork including stitch plans, tonal drawings, design source, original photographs and any other relevant paperwork you feel will help the Assessor understand your choices. Please keep these documents safe in your student folder throughout your tuition and your piece must be clearly named including the paperwork.

Note: Failure to include all relevant paperwork could result in loss of marks and possible postponement to the next Assessment slot.
