Royal School of Needlework

Welcome to the Royal School of Needlework The International Centre
of Excellence for the
Art of Hand Embroidery

Talk & Tours

Talk & Tours are led by a team of dedicated volunteers who not only have a passion for embroidery but who have also had full training from RSN staff on our history, the services we offer and the techniques we use. Many of the volunteers also conduct their own research into the history of embroidery and its contemporary usage. All tours must be pre-booked and paid for in advance.

Talk & Tours - 1.5 Hours

Talk & Tours allow individuals and small groups to form a larger collective tour group. (If your group consists of more than six people please see below for Group Tours.) You will have the opportunity to see a selection of the many items from our Collection and to learn about the RSN's history. Depending on the confidentiality of commissions in our Embroidery Studio you may have the opportunity to see our stitchers working (this is likely but not a guarantee).

Curator's Tours -  2 Hours
Curator's tours take place on selected dates throughout the year and feature a themed aspect of our Collection in more detail.  Tours include a short lecture by our CE Dr Susan Kay-Williams as well as the opportunity to view items from the RSN's extensive Collection which is rarely seen by the public.

Seating is available.

Please note that we do not issue tickets. A reminder email will be sent to you at least a week before your booked tour date.
