Sponsorship

1) The RSN Foundation Degree in Hand Embroidery

The Royal School of Needlework does not receive any funding from government to run its Foundation Degree programme.  We have to rely on raising the funding from our supporters.  You can help by sponsoring a unit – The Foundation Degree comprises 15 units.

Sponsoring a unit helps us to ensure we can deliver a really first class course.

Some sponsors combine sponsoring a unit with prizes for work on the unit, or with student bursaries.

As a sponsor, you would join others such as

  • The  Worshipful Company of Gold and Silver Wyre Drawers
  • The Worshipful Company of Haberdashers
  • Coats Foundation Trust
  • Laura Ashley Foundation

2) The RSN Collection

The Royal School of Needlework Collection comprises some 60,000 objects including designs, slides and photographs, embroideries, garments, prickings of commissions and archive materials of the Royal School of Needlework’s history.

We are looking for sponsorship to help with cataloguing our Collection, and, to make it more accessible, to digitise items to go on to the website.  These are significant undertakings and we cannot do them without financial support.

At the moment, the Royal School of Needlework Collection is hidden away in cupboards and archival boxes, with very little being accessible.  Digitising some sample pieces from the Collection, along with the relevant metadata, would be a fantastic way for us to begin to open up the Collection to researchers and the wider public.  We know we have a treasure trove of objects that have not been in the public domain.  Sponsoring a digitisation project would help to bring objects out of the closet to show the world just what we have.

If you would like to discuss financial support for either of these programmes, please contact Chief Executive, Dr Susan Kay-Williams on +44(0)20 3166 6936
